For
years, Ayiesha Woods felt a deep calling to serve God with
her musical talent, to reach people with her songs. Now
that her debut recording project, Introducing Ayiesha Woods,
has been nominated for a Grammy award (Best Pop/Contemporary
Gospel Album), she’s doing just that. Born in Long
Island, NY and raised in Bermuda (and Florida, Georgia,
Hawaii, and Texas), Ayiesha’s musical influences are
as diverse as her background. Everything from Ella Fitzgerald
and Stevie Wonder to Lauryn Hill and India Arie plus a spicy
Caribbean sound can be heard in her distinctive vocals.
A talented songwriter as well as a singer, Ayiesha’s
goal is to be transparent in her writing. “It's so
encouraging,” she says, “to know that we have
everything we need; the reality is found in Christ! I can't
afford to live without Him!" |
